Michael Lifshitz

Michael Lifshitz uses comedy, advocacy, and lived experience to advance disability inclusion across Ottawa and beyond. Through his platform Illumabilities, he uses humour to challenge stereotypes and show what’s possible when people with disabilities are given real opportunity. His commitment extends well beyond the stage; he has served on the EARN steering committee advancing disability employment, advocated publicly for accessible transit, and guided businesses and organizations in building more inclusive spaces. As Honorary Chair of ABLE2’s Evening in the Maritimes for three consecutive years, he has led fundraising and outreach for the organization’s flagship event while championing its mission publicly. Guided by the principle of nothing about us without us, Michael embodies the spirit of the IDEA Inspiration Award.
