The Philanthropy Awards are one of the premier events in our nation’s capital, bringing together visionary businesses, organizations, professional fundraisers, and philanthropists who are leading the way and making a difference in our city. This celebration is a wonderful opportunity to recognize and showcase acts of service, hope, and commitment happening within our community.
The 29th annual AFP Philanthropy Awards will feature an evening of compelling stories that celebrate the heart and soul of philanthropy across our region.

The 2023 Philanthropy Awards Categories
Award for Outstanding Fundraising Professional
This award recognizes an individual who works directly for a non-profit, charitable organization. This person is dedicated to serving charitable institutions and is committed to the advancement of philanthropy.
Award for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser
This award is conferred on an individual who demonstrates a leadership role in significant fundraising projects for more than one charitable organization within the community. This person is dedicated to serving charitable institutions and is committed to the advancement of philanthropy.
Award for Outstanding Philanthropic Group
This award is bestowed upon a group, service club or association whose philanthropic contribution makes a significant impact on the community. This group demonstrates that it cares about society and enhances the quality of life of the community.
Award for Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist
This award recognizes a corporation that demonstrates outstanding dedication to community through philanthropic giving to local charitable organizations. This corporation exhibits exemplary civic and charitable duty and generosity and motivates others to take philanthropic leadership roles.
Award for Outstanding Individual Philanthropist
This award honours an individual who demonstrates ongoing personal financial commitment to local charitable organizations. Recipients of this award exhibit outstanding civic and charitable responsibility and their generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles.
Award for Outstanding Small Business Philanthropist
This award is presented to a small business that demonstrates philanthropic commitment to local charitable organizations. This company exhibits outstanding civic and charitable responsibility, and its generosity encourages others to take philanthropy leadership roles.
Award for Outstanding Youth Philanthropist
This award celebrates a young person who demonstrates a leadership role in local community service. This person is dedicated to benefiting either individuals in need or charitable institutions and is committed to the concept of community service, fundraising or volunteering.
